Mestras do Macabro: mostra no CCBB apresenta filmes de terror dirigidos por mulheres

Com abertura de Quando Chega a Escuridão (1987), da vencedora do Oscar Kathryn Bigelow, o Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil (CCBB) apresenta a mostra Mestras do Macabro – As Cineastas do Horror ao Redor do Mundo. A iniciativa, em comemoração ao Mês Internacional da Mulher, exibirá 28 longas-metragens de diretoras de diversas nacionalidades nas sedes do Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, São Paulo e Brasília (veja as datas abaixo). Além das sessões de cinema, a programação inclui debates e cursos, tudo gratuito.

Entre os filmes selecionados, tem de diferentes épocas, estilos e gostos. Entre as pioneiras, estão Stephanie Rothman (O Doce Vampiro, 1971), Amy Jones (O Massacre, 1982) e Jackie Kong (Um Jantar Sangrento, 1987). Hits recentes como O Babadook (2014), de Jennifer Kent, também fazem parte da programação.
Já da produção nacional serão exibidos Medusa (2023), de Anita Rocha da Silveira, Sinfonia da Necrópole (2016), de Juliana Rojas, Sem Seu Sangue (2020), de Alice Furtado, A Sombra do Pai (2019), de Gabriela Amaral Almeida, e Terminal Praia Grande (2019), de Mavi Simão.
Beatriz Saldanha, pesquisadora e crítica de cinema, é a curadora da mostra e destaca a importância de valorizar a produção feminina no horror. “A mostra lança luz sobre cineastas que, muitas vezes, precisaram driblar dificuldades orçamentárias e desafios de um setor predominantemente masculino. Seus filmes demonstram criatividade e pluralidade, indo do gore de baixo orçamento a obras premiadas em festivais“, defende ela.
A mostra contará com um catálogo com textos de 35 autoras, entre críticas e pesquisadoras nacionais e internacionais, com distribuição gratuita, nas versões física e para download. Como parte da programação, há um curso gratuito sobre a história das mulheres no horror, ministrado pela própria Beatriz Saldanha. Ela também recebe Bianca Mattos para um debate sobre A Lenda de Candyman (2021), de Nia DaCosta, uma das principais cineastas negras da atualidade.

Radioativas: As Mulheres que Lutaram contra o Tempo é resultado da pesquisa minuciosa da autora e editora Kate Moore. Em 2015, ela dirigiu uma peça teatral sobre as operárias das fábricas de relógios que trabalhavam pintando mostradores e acabaram mortalmente contaminadas pela substância. Envolvida pela história e pelo grito de justiça das garotas, decidiu mergulhar ainda mais fundo e garantir, através de seu relato contundente, que a história delas jamais fosse esquecida.
